CHICKEN
KING ACHIEVES MARKET LEADERSHIP POSITION IN BANGLADESH
|
|
CHICKEN KING has achieved market leadership position in Bangladesh,
with the forthcoming opening of its third full-scale restaurant
in Dhaka, the Chicken King Brand has gained a foothold among
the affluent city dwellers in Bangladesh. |
CHICKEN KING, in 2002 became the first international fastfood
franchise to penetrate into Bangladesh, opening it's flagship
outlet - a 300 seater restaurant in the prime city area of Golshan,
Dhaka city. Pizza Hut was the 2nd international chain to set
foot in Dhaka opening their first outlet in late 2003. |
The decision to franchise into Bangladesh was
made based on demographics and an opportunity to serve an unmet
demand. The country has a population of 140 million comprising
90% Muslim. Chicken King was confident that a western-themed
Halal restaurant from Malaysia would find a strong following.
Dhaka is a city of 14 million people, with 5% or 700,000 comprising
of the well-traveled city rich, who clearly enjoy the fastfood
experience. |
Mr. KN Chua, the Managing Director of Chicken King, Malaysia
said that. "Being the first international Fastfood chain
in Bangladesh, we intend to make Chicken King a household name
and maintain the Chicken King mindshare among the city dwellers
of Bangladesh". |
| CHICKEN KING is now embarking on a 'Global Expansion Policy' having negotiations with potential Master Franchisees in several countries in the Asia Pacific Region, several Provinces in China and the Middle East. |
